Zwei Monate sind nun um und ich bin mehr als zufrieden mit der Wahl von P3W für mein Freiwilligenjahr.

Ich möchte euch mit diesem Blick einen kleinen Einblick der Arbeit des P3W’s liefern und wie ich mit eingebunden bin:

Zuallererst: P3W steht für ‚Pusat Pembinaan dan Pengembangan Wanita‘ – Entwicklungs- und Beratungszentrum für Frauen.

In der ersten Woche begann ich mit einer Orientierung in jedem Bidang (Abteilung), da ich die verschiedenen Abteilungen und ihre täglichen Aufgaben kennen lernen sollte. Ich fand heraus, dass Bidang 4 für die Einkommensgenerierung zuständig ist.

Das P3W verfügt über verschiedene Einnahmequellen wie das Gästehaus, den Kunsthandwerksladen, die Vermietung von Tagungsräumen, einen Fotokopierer und den Verkauf des selbst erstellten Kalenders. Das Gästehaus wird hauptsächlich von ausländischen Besuchern besucht.

Der Laden hat ein großes Angebot an handwerklichen Produkten, die auf einer kleinen Insel im Sentani-See, nicht weit von P3W entfernt, hergestellt werden. Die Insel ist berühmt für ihre handbemalten Rinden, die verschiedene Geschichten aus der Geschichte der alten Völker erzählen.

Außerdem ist der Laden für den Verkauf der neuesten Ohrringe bekannt, die von vielen jungen Frauen geliebt werden. Ich werde vor meiner Rückkehr bestimmt einiges leer kaufen hehe.

Eine Herausforderung mit der das Dorf zu kämpfen hat ist der Umstand, dass viele Menschen, die sich auf das Kunsthandwerk spezialisiert hatten, leider verstorben sind. Da nur wenige Menschen bereit sind, die Tradition weiterzuführen, besteht die Gefahr, dass auch sie verschwindet.

Dann hatte ich das Vergnügen mich Bidang 3 anzuschließen, dass aus zwei liebevollen Pendeta (Pastor:in), Ibu One und Ibu Elise, besteht. Diese Abteilung umfasst die seelsorgerische Betreuung, den Freizeitbereich, den spirituellen Bereich und einen Bildungsbereich. 

Die Pastoren bieten seelsorgerische Beratung an, damit die Menschen mit ihnen über ihre Probleme sprechen können. 

Im Bildungsbereich gibt es das Forum Gruppendiskussionen, bei dem Studenten aus verschiedenen Colleges und Fächern zusammenkommen und über ein aktuelles Thema diskutieren. Sie finden jeweils für einen Monat an Samstagen statt. 

Im Oktober 2022 fanden die FGD’s zum Thema  ‚Ekonomi kreatif‘ – kreative Wirtschaft statt.

„Passend zu deinem Bachelor Abschluss!“ haben viele der Frauen gemeint. :’D

 Es hat mir Spaß gemacht, die Studenten beim Brainstorming über die Definition, die Merkmale und Beispiele einer kreativen Wirtschaft zu beobachten.

Ehrlich gesagt fand ich die Anzahl der Teilnehmer:innen erstaunlich, da ich nicht damit gerechnet hätte, dass so viele an einem Samstagvormittag sich dafür Zeit nehmen würden. Klar gab es auch einige Blicke, die nach Schlafmangel aussahen, aber insgesamt war die Energie hoch und es hat mir Spaß gemacht ihnen auf indonesisch über Wirtschaft beim Diskutieren zuzuhören. Wirklich mit Volkswirtschaftslehre (mein Studiumsfach) hatte das nicht zu tun, aber ich wusste auch nicht, wie und ob ich das mit meinem Indonesisch erklären sollte.

Danach hatte ich das Vergnügen an Bidang 2 teilzunehmen, das sich mit Forschung, Information, Veröffentlichung und Dokumentation befasst. Die Abteilung ist in der P3W-eigenen Bibliothek untergebracht.

Bidang 2 ist verantwortlich für die Veröffentlichung der P3W-Programme durch Broschüren, Facebook, Instagram, Podcasts und das P3W-Magazin namens GEMA.

Alle drei Monate konzentriert sich das Bulletin GEMA auf die vier Themen:

Freiheit, Bildung, Menschenrechte sowie Frauen und Frieden. Es enthält auch Informationen über HIV und Ernährung.

Ich muss sagen, dass die Bibliothek für mich Bücherwurm ein kleines Paradies darstellt. Es gibt hier Bücher über persönliche Weiterentwicklung, Spiritualität, wie man Gewohnheiten ändert, seine eigenen Heilungskräfte aktiviert und über die Frau allgemein als auch verbunden mit Spiritualität. Natürlich umfasst die Auswahl noch viel mehr und ich muss sagen für die Größe der Bibliothek (Sie ist nicht allzu groß), ist die Auswahl (meiner Meinung nach) sehr vielfältig.

Ich fühle mich hier sehr wohl und freue mich auch in dieser Abteilung im Nachhinein eingesetzt worden zu sein. (Siehe unten)

Die Ruhe hier ist einfach meins. Ich liebs.

Zu guter Letzt besuchte ich Bidang 1, in dem sich auch das Wohnheim befindet, in dem auch sieben Studentinnen wohnen und jeden Tag zum Campus gehen. 

Mit Bidang 1 hat die Arbeit vom P3W eigentlich begonnen.

Im Jahr 1962 begann die aus den Niederlanden stammende Gründerin Loes Swan mit der Arbeit mit den Frauen in Jayapura. Aufgrund der großen Nachfrage wurden das erste Wohnheim und das Hauptbüro des P3W gebaut und der erste Kurs für Soziale Arbeit begann. Die Teilnehmerinnen sind Frauen aus verschiedenen Dörfern und Städten, die dann eine Ausbildung erhalten. Dazu leben die Frauen 1-2 Jahre im Wohnheim, wo sie mit allem Notwendigem versorgt werden.

Die Frauen werden darin geschult, inmitten der Familie, Kirchengemeinde und Gesellschaft zu dienen und sie zu leiten, sie lernen Theologie, Sozialkunde, Tischmanieren, Nähen, Ernährung, Kochen, Backen, Familienwirtschaft und einige von ihnen werden auch im Lesen und Schreiben unterrichtet. Außerdem hängt der Inhalt der Ausbildung davon ab, welche Bedürfnisse es gibt.

Der nächste Kurs ist im Februar geplant, das heißt viel von der Arbeit bekomme ich zurzeit nicht mit. Ich selbst bin auch seit dem 18. Oktober im Asrama untergebracht und habe eine kleine aber süße Zweizimmer Wohnung, in der ich mich richtig wohl fühle!

Ich habe ein kleines Schlafzimmer, ein Wohnzimmer, eine Veranda und eine kleine Küche mit ganz viel Platz.

Morgens habe ich hier genug Raum, um meine geliebte Yoga-Routine durchzuziehen und dadurch, dass mein Schlafzimmer etwas abgeschotteter ist, kann ich da richtig laut Musik hören, ohne jemanden zu stören. Ein Träumchen!

Nach dem Besuch aller Abteilungen von P3W hatte ich ein gutes Gespräch mit Meilanny, der stellvertretenden Leiterin. Ich erfuhr mehr Details über die Arbeit von P3W. 

Ich teilte ihr mit, dass ich sehr daran interessiert bin, in Bidang 2 zu arbeiten und bei der Veröffentlichung zu helfen.

Schwupps, bin ich nun seit rund 2 Monaten zuständig für Instagram und Facebook und konnte schon kleine Erfolge erzielen. Mir macht es wahnsinnig spaß neuen Fotos zu schießen, Videos zu drehen und daraus neuen Content für das P3W

zu kreieren. Die Frauen sind auch ständig begeistert und haben mich kürzlich sogar gebeten die Videos zusammen zu schneiden und einer Sponsorin, die zu Besuch gewesen ist, vorzuspielen. Ich freue wirklich sehr, dass meine Arbeit solche Anerkennung findet. Ehrlich gesagt, gibt es noch so viel mehr, was ich erzählen möchte, aber bleibt auf meinen nächsten Blog dafür gespannt!

Welcome to my first English edition of my Blog, dear reader!

Two months are now up and I am more than happy with my choice of P3W for my volunteer year.
I would like to provide you with this glimpse of the P3W’s work and how I am involved:

First of all: P3W stands for ‚Pusat Pembinaan dan Pengembangan Wanita‘ – Development and Counseling Center for Women.

In the first week, I started with an orientation in each bidang (department) as I was supposed to learn about the different departments and their daily tasks. I found out that Bidang 4 is responsible for income generation.
The P3W has various sources of income such as the guest house, the handicraft store, meeting room rentals, a photocopier, and the sale of the calendar that they make themselves. The guest house is mainly visited by foreign visitors.
The store has a wide range of handicraft products made on a small island in Lake Sentani, not far from P3W. The island is famous for its hand-painted barks that tell various stories from the history of ancient peoples.
Also, the store is famous for selling the latest earrings that are loved by many young women. I will definitely buy some empty before I return hehe.
One challenge the village has to deal with is the fact that many people who specialized in handicrafts have unfortunately passed away. With only a few people willing to carry on the tradition, there is a danger that it too will disappear.

Then I had the pleasure of joining Bidang 3, which consists of two loving pendeta (pastor:in), Ibu One and Ibu Elise. This department includes pastoral care, recreational area, spiritual area and an educational area.
The pastors provide pastoral counseling so that people can talk to them about their problems.
In the educational area, there is a forum called Group Discussions, where students from different colleges and subjects come together to discuss a current issue. They are held for a month at a time on Saturdays.
In October 2022, the FGD’s were held on the topic ‚Ekonomi kreatif‘ – creative economy.
„Fitting for your Bachelor’s degree!“ many of the women commented.
I enjoyed watching the students brainstorm about the definition, characteristics and examples of a creative economy.
Honestly, I found the number of participant:s amazing, as I didn’t expect so many to take the time to do this on a Saturday morning. Sure there were some looks of sleep deprivation, but overall the energy was high and I enjoyed listening to them discuss economics in Indonesian. It really didn’t have anything to do with economics (my field of study), but I also didn’t know how to explain it with my Indonesian.

After that, I had the pleasure of participating in Bidang 2, which deals with research, information, publishing, and documentation. The department is housed in P3W’s own library.
Bidang 2 is responsible for publishing P3W programs through brochures, Facebook, Instagram, podcasts, and the P3W magazine called GEMA.
Every three months, the GEMA bulletin focuses on the four themes:
Freedom, Education, Human Rights, and Women and Peace. It also includes information on HIV and nutrition.
I have to say that for me, a bookworm, the library is a little paradise. There are books here about personal development, spirituality, how to change habits, activate your own healing powers and about women in general as well as related to spirituality. Of course, the selection includes much more and I must say for the size of the library (it is not too big), the selection is (in my opinion) very diverse.
I feel very comfortable here and I am also happy to have been assigned to this department in retrospect. (See below)
The peace and quiet here is just mine. I love it.

Last but not least, I visited Bidang 1, which also houses the dormitory where seven female students also live and go to campus every day.
Bidang 1 is actually where the work of the P3W began.
In 1962, Loes Swan, a founder from the Netherlands, began working with women in Jayapura. Due to the great demand, the first dormitory and the main office of the P3W were built and the first social work course started. The participants are women from different villages and towns who then receive training. For this purpose, the women live in the dormitory for 1-2 years, where they are provided with everything they need.

The women are trained to serve and lead in the midst of the family, church community and society, they learn theology, social studies, table manners, sewing, nutrition, cooking, baking, family economics and some of them are also taught how to read and write. In addition, the content of the training depends on what the needs are.
The next course is scheduled for February, which means I don’t get much of the work at the moment. I myself have also been staying at Asrama since October 18, and I have a small but cute two-room apartment that I feel really comfortable in! I have a small bedroom, a living room, a porch and a small kitchen with quite a lot of space.
In the morning I have enough space to do my beloved yoga routine and because my bedroom is a bit more isolated, I can listen to music really loud without disturbing anyone. A dream!

After visiting all of P3W’s departments, I had a good conversation with Meilanny, the assistant director. I learned more details about the work of P3W.
I shared with her that I am very interested in working in Bidang 2 and helping with the publication.
Poof, I’ve been in charge of Instagram and Facebook for about 2 months now and have already been able to achieve small successes. I’m having a blast shooting new photos, making videos and creating new content for the P3W from them. The women are also constantly excited and recently even asked me to edit the videos together and play them for a sponsor who was visiting. I’m really pleased that my work is getting such recognition. Honestly, there is so much more I want to share, but stay tuned for my next journal for that!

Dua bulan telah berlalu dan saya lebih dari senang dengan pilihan P3W saya untuk tahun sukarela saya.
Saya ingin memberi Anda sekilas tentang pekerjaan P3W dan bagaimana saya terlibat:

Pertama-tama: P3W adalah singkatan dari ‚Pusat Pembinaan dan Pengembangan Wanita‘

Pada minggu pertama, saya memulai dengan orientasi di setiap bidang (departemen) karena saya harus belajar tentang departemen yang berbeda dan tugas sehari-hari mereka. Saya mengetahui bahwa Bidang 4 bertanggung jawab untuk menghasilkan pendapatan.
P3W memiliki berbagai sumber pendapatan seperti wisma tamu, toko kerajinan tangan, penyewaan ruang pertemuan, mesin fotokopi dan penjualan kalender yang diproduksi sendiri. Wisma tamu terutama dikunjungi oleh pengunjung asing.
Toko ini memiliki berbagai macam produk kerajinan tangan yang dibuat di sebuah pulau kecil di Danau Sentani, tidak jauh dari P3W. Pulau ini terkenal dengan kulit kayu yang dilukis dengan tangan yang menceritakan berbagai kisah dari sejarah masyarakat kuno.
Toko ini juga dikenal karena menjual anting-anting terbaru, yang digemari oleh banyak wanita muda. Saya pasti akan membeli beberapa kosong sebelum saya kembali hehe.
Salah satu tantangan yang dihadapi desa ini adalah kenyataan bahwa banyak orang yang memiliki spesialisasi dalam kerajinan tangan telah meninggal dunia. Dengan hanya sedikit orang yang bersedia meneruskan tradisi ini, ada bahaya bahwa tradisi ini juga akan hilang.

Kemudian saya merasa senang bergabung dengan Bidang 3, yang terdiri dari dua pendeta yang penuh kasih, Ibu One dan Ibu Elise. Departemen ini mencakup pelayanan pastoral, area rekreasi, area spiritual dan area pendidikan.
Para pendeta menawarkan konseling pastoral sehingga orang dapat berbicara dengan mereka tentang masalah mereka.
Di area pendidikan, terdapat forum Diskusi Kelompok, di mana para mahasiswa dari perguruan tinggi dan mata pelajaran yang berbeda berkumpul bersama dan mendiskusikan masalah terkini. Mereka diadakan pada hari Sabtu selama sebulan pada suatu waktu.
Pada bulan Oktober 2022, FGD diadakan dengan topik ‚Ekonomi kreatif‘ – ekonomi kreatif.
„Cocok untuk gelar Sarjana Anda!“ banyak wanita berkomentar. :’D
Saya senang melihat para siswa bertukar pikiran tentang definisi, karakteristik, dan contoh-contoh ekonomi kreatif.
Sejujurnya, saya menemukan jumlah peserta: di dalam luar biasa, karena saya tidak menyangka begitu banyak yang meluangkan waktu pada Sabtu pagi. Tentu saja, ada beberapa yang terlihat kurang tidur, tetapi secara keseluruhan energinya tinggi dan saya menikmati mendengarkan mereka mendiskusikan ekonomi dalam bahasa Indonesia. Itu tidak benar-benar ada hubungannya dengan ekonomi (bidang studi saya), tetapi saya juga tidak tahu bagaimana menjelaskannya dengan bahasa Indonesia saya.

Setelah itu, saya merasa senang berpartisipasi dalam Bidang 2, yang berhubungan dengan penelitian, informasi, penerbitan dan dokumentasi. Departemen ini bertempat di perpustakaan P3W sendiri.
Bidang 2 bertanggung jawab untuk mempublikasikan program-program P3W melalui brosur, Facebook, Instagram, podcast, dan majalah P3W yang disebut GEMA.
Setiap tiga bulan, buletin GEMA berfokus pada empat tema:
Kebebasan, Pendidikan, Hak Asasi Manusia dan Perempuan dan Perdamaian. Buku ini juga berisi informasi mengenai HIV dan nutrisi.
Saya harus mengatakan bahwa perpustakaan adalah surga bagi saya sebagai seorang kutu buku. Ada buku-buku tentang pengembangan pribadi, spiritualitas, cara mengubah kebiasaan, cara mengaktifkan kekuatan penyembuhan Anda sendiri dan tentang wanita secara umum serta yang berkaitan dengan spiritualitas. Tentu saja, masih banyak lagi yang bisa dipilih dan saya harus mengatakan bahwa untuk ukuran perpustakaan (tidak terlalu besar), pilihannya (menurut saya) sangat beragam.
Saya merasa sangat nyaman di sini dan saya juga senang telah ditugaskan di departemen ini. (Lihat di bawah)
Kedamaian dan ketenangan di sini hanya milik saya. Saya menyukainya.

Terakhir, saya mengunjungi Bidang 1, yang juga merupakan asrama tempat tujuh mahasiswi juga tinggal dan pergi ke kampus setiap hari.
Bidang 1 sebenarnya adalah tempat dimulainya pekerjaan P3W.
Pada tahun 1962, Loes Swan, pendiri dari Belanda, mulai bekerja dengan perempuan di Jayapura. Karena banyaknya permintaan, asrama pertama dan kantor utama P3W dibangun dan kursus pekerjaan sosial pertama dimulai. Pesertanya adalah para wanita dari berbagai desa dan kota yang kemudian menerima pelatihan. Untuk ini, para wanita tinggal di asrama selama 1-2 tahun, di mana mereka disediakan semua yang mereka butuhkan.

Para wanita dilatih untuk melayani dan memimpin di tengah-tengah keluarga, komunitas gereja dan masyarakat, mereka belajar teologi, studi sosial, tata krama, menjahit, nutrisi, memasak, membuat kue, ekonomi keluarga dan beberapa dari mereka juga diajarkan cara membaca dan menulis. Selain itu, isi pelatihan tergantung pada kebutuhannya.
Kursus berikutnya direncanakan untuk bulan Februari, yang berarti saya tidak bisa melihat banyak pekerjaan saat ini. Saya sendiri juga telah tinggal di Asrama sejak 18 Oktober dan memiliki flat dua kamar kecil tapi lucu di mana saya merasa sangat nyaman! Saya memiliki kamar tidur kecil, ruang tamu, beranda dan dapur kecil dengan banyak ruang.
Di pagi hari, saya memiliki cukup ruang untuk melakukan rutinitas yoga yang saya cintai dan karena kamar tidur saya sedikit lebih terisolasi, saya bisa mendengarkan musik dengan sangat keras tanpa mengganggu siapa pun. Sebuah mimpi!

Setelah mengunjungi semua departemen di P3W, saya berbincang-bincang dengan Meilanny, wakil direktur. Saya belajar lebih detail tentang pekerjaan P3W.
Saya berbagi dengannya bahwa saya sangat tertarik untuk bekerja di Bidang 2 dan membantu publikasi.
Poof, saya telah bertanggung jawab atas Instagram dan Facebook selama sekitar 2 bulan sekarang dan telah mampu mencapai kesuksesan kecil. Saya sangat menikmati mengambil foto-foto baru, membuat video dan membuat konten baru untuk P3W. Para wanita juga selalu bersemangat dan baru-baru ini bahkan meminta saya untuk mengedit video bersama-sama dan memutarnya untuk sponsor yang berkunjung. Saya sangat senang bahwa karya saya mendapatkan pengakuan seperti itu. Sejujurnya, masih banyak lagi yang ingin saya bagikan, tetapi nantikan jurnal saya berikutnya!
